Crisp, fresh gherkins from the Loire Valley, refined with a marinade of fine vinegar and chili
These cornichons were grown in France. Extra fresh and pickled immediately after harvest, they are marinated in our Orléans vinegar for your utmost enjoyment.
Producer: The craft of vinegar-making, the city of Orléans, and the Loire River have been closely connected since the Renaissance. At that time, wines from the south of France were transported by ship to Orléans before continuing overland to Paris. During this lively journey on Europe’s wildest river, some wines would occasionally undergo a second fermentation. These batches were set aside on the quays of Orléans and entrusted to the city’s vinegar masters, who refined their transformation from wine into vinegar. This is how the famous Orléans vinegar was born.
Since 1797, Martin-Pouret has preserved this artisanal know-how without interruption—always with an ever-growing commitment to quality. Thanks to the expertise of its vinegar masters, their respect for this centuries-old method, and a constant pursuit of excellence, Martin-Pouret produces vinegars that can be found all over the world—from the kitchens of Michelin-starred chefs to the tables of gourmet enthusiasts.
Ingredients: Fresh cornichons, Orléans white wine vinegar, water, sugar, salt, natural aromatics (bird’s tongue chili, white onions, tarragon, peppercorns, mustard seeds, coriander).
