Martin-Pouret’s wine vinegars are made from wines sourced from the most renowned French wine-growing regions. It is said that vinegar is to wine what spirit is to intelligence. Since 1797, Martin-Pouret has revealed the finest expression of vinegar’s acidity through oak barrel ageing, following the traditional Orléans method.
Thanks to its slow three-week fermentation in oak barrels and its one-year ageing in cellars, this vinegar develops its unique flavour – a legacy of centuries-old craftsmanship.
Once, the city of Orléans was home to up to 400 vinegar makers, supplying around 80% of France’s vinegar production. The Orléans method became for vinegar what the Méthode Champenoise is for sparkling wines – the benchmark for outstanding quality and artisanal excellence.
Among the many vinegar masters of the past, only one house still preserves this traditional production technique today: Martin-Pouret – guardian of a unique French heritage and a vinegar-making tradition dating back centuries.
