Opening in the glass with notions of rich berry fruit, licorice, cedar, violets and loamy soil, the 2019 Cantemerle is medium to full-bodied, with a fleshy core of fruit, lively acids and powdery tannins that gently assert themselves on the finish. This shut down a little after bottling (some 11 months ago at the time of writing), but it is beginning to bounce back to reveal a wine of real charm and character. (4/2022)

This cuvée comes from a selection of two plots planted with Grenache, one in 1900 "Charbonnières", the other in 1949 "Esqueirons".
Reveals pretty aromas of violets, with hints of raspberry leaf, rose and fragrant earth. Medium-bodied, the palate is discreetly intense, with a long, refreshing finish.
Excellent style, full body for the category, perfect Saint-Julien worthy of its origin, to be treated like a great wine.
Elegant wine with cassis, spice, and oak. Fine tannins, silky texture.
