Château Sociando-Mallet 2016
Tasting
Colour: Deep, intense red with dark garnet highlights.
Nose: Complex and expressive. Ripe black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry), plum, discreet floral notes, hints of spice (pepper, liquorice) and minerality (graphite), accompanied by elegant, well-integrated oak (light toast, cedar).
Palate: Clean, full attack. Strong but silky tannic structure, typical of the Sociando-Mallet style. Dense, racy mid-palate, very well-balanced, revealing pure fruit and controlled freshness. Persistent, sapid finish, marked by fine tension and spicy, mineral notes.

Suggested pairings
Ideal with grilled or braised red meats (rib of beef, entrecôte, onglet), roast lamb (loin, leg), or roast poultry with character (guinea fowl, duck). Excellent with game birds or furred game (venison, hare à la royale), as well as stewed dishes such as beef bourguignon or wild boar stew. It also goes well with mature hard cheeses (Comté, aged Gouda) or blue-veined cheeses (Roquefort, Bleu d'Auvergne).
