Château Léoville Barton 2017, Saint-Julien 2° Grand Cru Classé - Parker 95
(€154.67 l)
Intense crimson colour with a dazzling nose of black fruit, graphite and toast. On the palate, the attack is frank and the tannins are precise and remarkably fine.
Winemaker and vineyard : The Léoville Barton terroir is located on one of the finest gravelly slopes in the Garonne, facing the Gironde, in the heart of the Saint Julien appellation in the Médoc, 40 km north of Bordeaux. The different heights of gravel left by the river characterise the terroir of Léoville Barton, which, combined with the history and people who have shaped it, has produced one of the greatest red wines in the world. The clay-gravel subsoil is a perfect regulator of the vagaries of the year's climate. https://www.leoville-barton.com
Tasting : Deep garnet-purple coloured, the 2017 Léoville Barton charges out of the gate with bold notions of baked plums, crème de cassis and blueberry preserves plus wafts of pencil shavings, fragrant earth and cedar chest. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-coating black fruit preserves with compelling herbal sparks and a firm, grainy texture, finishing long and lively. robertparker.com (16.04.2020)
Service : Serve it at a room temperature of 16-18°C with a stuffed capon.
