Crisp, fresh gherkins from the Loire Valley, refined with a marinade of fine vinegar.
These cornichons were grown in France. Extra fresh and pickled immediately after harvest, they are marinated in Orléans vinegar – for your greatest enjoyment.
Producer: The craft of vinegar-making, the city of Orléans, and the Loire River have been closely linked since the Renaissance. At that time, wines from southern France were shipped to Orléans before being transported overland to Paris. During this long journey on Europe’s wildest river, some wines occasionally underwent a second fermentation. These wines were set aside on the quays of Orléans and taken over by the city’s master vinegar-makers, who perfected their transformation from wine into vinegar. This is how the famous Orléans vinegar was born.
Since 1797, Martin-Pouret has preserved this artisanal expertise without interruption, always striving for ever-higher quality. Thanks to the work of its vinegar masters, adherence to this centuries-old method, and a continuous pursuit of excellence, Martin-Pouret produces vinegars found all over the world — in the kitchens of Michelin-starred chefs as well as on the tables of fine-food lovers.
Ingredients: Fresh cornichons, Orléans white wine vinegar, water, sugar, salt, natural flavourings, white onions, coriander, mustard seeds, tarragon, Guérande salt.
