Distillerie Meyer - Gin
Origin and background
The Meyer Distillery, renowned for its craft brandies and whiskies, has developed a gin that respects tradition while making the most of local resources. Produced in a traditional still, this Alsatian gin is based on a refined neutral grain base, infused with juniper berries and a bouquet of herbs and spices, with a rigorous selection of citrus fruits and local plants for a profile that is both classic and regional.
Tasting
Nose: Clean and expressive. Predominantly juniper, accompanied by fresh citrus notes, aromatic herbs and delicate spices.
Palate: Lively and well-balanced. Straightforward juniper attack, evolving towards lemony, slightly peppery flavours. Silky texture, lovely aromatic intensity with a long, dry finish, marked by the freshness of the herbs and the purity of the spices.
Suggested pairings
Perfect on its own or on the rocks to appreciate the finesse of the botanicals. Ideal as a gin and tonic with a neutral or lightly lemony tonic, garnished with lemon zest or a sprig of fresh rosemary. It also lends itself to more elaborate cocktails such as Negroni, Martini Dry or French 75. It goes well with oysters, salmon gravlax or fresh, creamy cheeses such as chèvre or Saint-Moret.
