Distillerie Meyer - Whisky Pur Malt
Origin and background
The Meyer Distillery, a pioneer of Alsatian whisky since 1958, is renowned for its traditional, family-style approach. Its “Pur Malt” is made exclusively from malted barley, with no added neutral grain, and aged for several years in French oak casks. This choice highlights the quality of the grain and the care taken during distillation and ageing, offering an authentic expression of the Alsatian terroir.
Tasting
Colour: Deep gold with amber highlights.
Nose: Clean and elegant. Notes of malted cereals, light honey, toasted hazelnut, delicate vanilla and finely spiced oak.
Palate: Supple, well-balanced attack. Round and silky texture with flavours of pure cereal, light caramel, dried fruit, a touch of white pepper and light smoke. The finish is long and dry, marked by an elegant woody and spicy signature.
Suggested pairings
Ideal on its own or with a dash of fresh water to release its aromas. Goes well with an aged Comté cheese, a mature sheep's tomme or a semi-aged Gouda. An excellent accompaniment to a filet mignon with mustard sauce, a game terrine, or a caramel-based dessert (crème caramel, tarte tatin). Can also be enjoyed with 70% dark chocolate or roasted dried fruit.
