(€58.57 L)
Intense, fruity nose, well-balanced on the palate, with fine notes of wood that are more pronounced in the Vieille Réserve.
Vineyard and winemaker: Michel Barlaam is retired but still has a large reserve of Vieux Cognac and Pineau, 90% of which he sells to his private clientele. They win you over from the very first tasting, and although they are not a major brand, their quality and finesse give them serious competition. Mr Barlaam does not advertise, and you can only become a customer by recommendation. The Cognac appellation is reserved for local products controlled by a regional commission.
The VSOP is from 1982.
Tasting notes: Intense, fruity nose, well-balanced on the palate with fine woody notes.
Service: As an after-dinner drink or aperitif. Serve chambré (16-18°) in Cognac glasses. A great gift.
