Winemaker and Vineyard: Founded in the 18th century, Château Soutard is a historic 30-hectare vineyard located in the prestigious Saint-Émilion wine region. The estate comprises 70% clay-limestone plateau, 17% clay slopes, and 13% sandy foothills. Since 2012, the varietal composition is dominated by Merlot (63%), followed by Cabernet Franc (28%), Cabernet Sauvignon (7%), and Malbec (2%). The vines have an average age of 35 years and are planted at a density of 6,500 vines per hectare. Traditional cultivation methods are meticulously followed at each step.

Tasting: Blended of 61% Merlot, 31% Cabernet Franc, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Malbec, the deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Soutard features notes of warm plums, baked blueberries, and blackberry pie with hints of fragrant earth, truffles, tapenade, and lavender. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has great elegance and sophistication, with plush tannins and wonderful freshness supporting the subtle fruit layers through the long finish.

Service: Serve at room temperature (16-18°C) to accompany a beef tartare prepared with a knife.
