Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2015 - Pauillac, Bordeaux

Overall profile:

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2015 stands out for its elegance, straightforwardness and classic expression of Pauillac terroir. Situated on a plateau of deep gravel, this renowned family estate has produced a wine of great consistency, combining power, precision and freshness.

Tasting:

Colour: Dark, intense garnet with purple highlights

Nose: Deep and expressive, revealing aromas of ripe blackcurrant, black raspberry, liquorice, graphite and sweet spices

Palate: Full, silky attack. The structure is straightforward, supported by fine, precise tannins. Excellent balance between rich fruit and freshness, with a long, lingering mineral finish.

Notes & critics:

James Suckling: 96/100

Wine Advocate (Neal Martin): 91-93/100

Food & wine pairings :

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2015 is an ideal accompaniment to roasted or grilled red meat dishes, such as fillet of beef en croûte, rack of lamb with herbs or duck breast with figs. It also goes well with simmered game dishes, forest mushrooms or red wine reduction sauces. As for cheeses, prefer ripened pressed cheeses (Comté, extra-aged Mimolette) or mild blue cheeses. Its structure and finesse also make it an excellent partner for refined gourmet dishes.
