Producer: Le Père Jules was the father of Léon Defrièches, the owner of this traditional company, who is now over 70 years old. It was founded in 1919. The distillery is located in St-Désir-de-Lisieux, on the Normandy coast. Here, over 42 varieties of apples, which grow on very old trees, are processed organically.
They produce cider, a sparkling apple wine with natural foaming in the bottle, and calvados using the traditional double distillation process. The latter matures in fine oak barrels to achieve its finesse and uniqueness.
