General Description
Calvados Le Père Jules 60 ans is an exceptional eau-de-vie, distilled from cider grown in family orchards. After traditional distillation using an iron still, the calvados is aged for 60 years in oak barrels. This prolonged ageing gives the calvados a remarkable complexity and aromatic richness. The Le Père Jules distillery, founded in 1919, is renowned for its expertise and commitment to quality.
Aromatic profile
- Colour: Dark amber with coppery highlights.
- Nose: Concentrated aromas of baked apple, damp wood, toasted and spicy notes (cinnamon, liquorice).
- Palate: Pleasant, concentrated attack, dominated by baked apple, toasted wood, liquorice and cinnamon.
- Finish: Long, superb, with incredible aromatic concentration.
Food and wine pairings
This Calvados is best drunk neat, at room temperature (18-20°C), in a tulip or balloon glass to concentrate the aromas. It goes perfectly with
- Mature cheeses such as Camembert or Pont-l'Évêque.
- Apple-based desserts, such as Tarte Tatin or spiced apple compote.
- Quality dark chocolates or light pastries.
It can also be enjoyed on its own as an after-dinner drink, to savour its richness and complexity.
All products of Le Père Jules are made from apple and pear varieties that are carefully selected from traditional orchards of tall trees in a protected area of controlled production (AOC).
