General Description
Calvados Le Père Jules 50 ans is an exceptional eau-de-vie made in the Pays d'Auge region, renowned for its unique terroir. This calvados is made by traditional distillation of cider from family orchards, followed by prolonged ageing in oak barrels.
Aromatic profile
- Colour: Amber, with golden highlights.
- Nose: Intense and elegant, revealing aromas of ripe apples, vanilla, noble wood and light spicy notes.
- Palate: Round and velvety, offering a fine harmony between the sweetness of the fruit and the woody structure, with hints of caramel and sweet spices.
- Finish: Long and warm, with persistent notes of candied fruit and light spices.
Awards
This vintage was awarded a gold medal at the 2014 Pays d'Auge International Calvados Competition, underlining its exceptional quality.
Food and wine pairings
This Calvados is best drunk neat, at room temperature (15-18°C), in a tulip or balloon glass to concentrate the aromas. It goes perfectly with
- Mature cheeses such as Camembert or Pont-l'Évêque.
- Apple-based desserts, such as Tarte Tatin or spiced apple compote.
- Quality dark chocolates or light pastries.
It can also be enjoyed on its own as an after-dinner drink, to savour its richness and complexity.
All products of Le Père Jules are made from apple and pear varieties that are carefully selected from traditional orchards of tall trees in a protected area of controlled production (AOC).
