Château Feytit-Clinet 2017, Pomerol - Parker 93
(€124.67 L)
Woody, tannic, deep
Winemaker and Vineyard: Nestled in the heart of the Pomerol appellation is Château Feytit-Clinet, a 6.5 hectare wine estate owned by the Chasseuil family. Since 2000, following a legal dispute with the Jean-Pierre Moueix establishments, the family has taken full control of the estate, bringing significant improvements to the vineyard and winery. The estate produces approximately 30,000 bottles annually, or 2000 cases, from a varietal mainly made up of Merlot (90%) and complemented by Cabernet Franc (10%). This work is the fruit of the efforts of Jérémy Chasseuil, the family's winemaker, who has elevated the wines of the estate to the rank of sure values of the appellation.
Tasting: The 2017 Feytit Clinet is a blend of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc. It sports a deep garnet-purple color. The nose boasts bold Black Forest cake, blackberry compote and plum preserves notes with nuances of chocolate box, violets and fallen leaves. The full-bodied palate has a gorgeous texture of plush, fine-grained tannins and plenty of zing lifting the decadent black fruit flavors, finishing long and savory. It is quite delicious now, but I'd give it another year or two in bottle to really impress. robertparker.com (03.16.2020)
Service: Serve at room temperature (16-18°C) to accompany a roasted wild boar haunch.
