Château Carbonnieux 2014: a fine, well-balanced wine, with aromas of red fruit, tobacco and spices, supple tannins and a lovely fresh finish.
The 2014 vintage of Château Carbonnieux embodies the classic elegance of Graves, in a year with a fresh, balanced profile. This red wine stands out for its finesse, aromatic purity and straightforward style, carried by polished tannins and fine tension.
Tasting notes:
Colour: Bright ruby red with garnet highlights.
Nose: Fine and precise, it opens with notes of red and black fruit (cherry, blackcurrant, redcurrant), enhanced by delicate aromas of light tobacco, graphite, liquorice and a subtle smoky touch typical of Graves.
Palate: The attack is supple and fresh. The mid-palate is elegant, with a fine acid structure that supports the wine and enhances its aromas of ripe berries, sweet spices and finely integrated wood. The tannins are fine and well-coated, and the long, harmonious finish leaves a lovely sensation of purity.
Food and wine pairings:
Ideal with duck breast, veal chops with morel mushrooms, roast beef or grilled vegetables with herbs. It also goes very well with a platter of mature cheeses.
Laying down:
Already pleasant to drink after a light decanting, Château Carbonnieux 2014 can be cellared for a further 5 to 10 years, gaining in complexity and roundness.
