Producer: The craft of vinegar-making, the city of Orléans, and the Loire River have been closely connected since the Renaissance. At that time, wines from the south of France were transported by ship to Orléans before continuing overland to Paris. During this long and lively journey on Europe’s wildest river, some wines occasionally underwent a second fermentation. These were set aside on the quays of Orléans and taken over by the city’s vinegar masters, who perfected their transformation from wine into vinegar. This is how the famous Orléans vinegar came to be.
Since 1797, Martin-Pouret has preserved this artisanal expertise without interruption—always raising the bar for quality. Thanks to the work of the vinegar masters, their respect for this centuries-old method, and their constant pursuit of excellence, Martin-Pouret produces vinegars that are found all over the world—from the kitchens of Michelin-starred chefs to the tables of gourmet enthusiasts.
