Château Guiraud 2016
Tasting
Colour: Bright, clear gold with delicate amber highlights.
Nose: Expressive and complex. Aromas of candied fruit (apricot, mango), orange peel, acacia honey, sweet spices (vanilla, saffron), floral notes and elegant noble botrytis.
Palate: Unctuous, well-balanced attack. Generous liquor, but perfectly supported by lively acidity to ensure freshness. Rich, full, silky mid-palate, developing flavours of exotic fruit, candied citrus fruit and honey. The finish is long, persistent and of great aromatic purity, with a fine mineral tension.
Review
- Wine Advocate: 94/100
- Vinous (Neal Martin): 93/100
- James Suckling: 95/100
Suggested pairings
Excellent with foie gras terrine or pan-fried, lightly sweetened roast poultry (duck with orange), or strong blue cheeses (Roquefort, Stilton). Also ideal with spicy or sweet-and-sour Asian cuisine (Peking duck, mild Thai curry). Sublime with fruity desserts (tarte Tatin, roasted apricots, citrus salad) or pastries made with almonds and honey.
