Refined Côte-Rôtie with black fruit, violet, and spice aromas. Elegant, structured palate.
Domaine Faury - Côte-Rôtie ‘Emporium’ 2013
Domaine Faury is a renowned producer in the Rhône Valley, led by Lionel Faury. The ‘Emporium’ cuvée comes from a parcel located on the Côte Blonde, one of the best terroirs in the Côte-Rôtie appellation. This wine is composed mainly of Syrah, with a small proportion of co-fermented Viognier (around 5%). It is matured for around 30 months in demi-muids (large casks), with little new wood.
Tasting
Colour: A deep garnet-red colour with purplish tints, characteristic of a fully mature Syrah.
Nose: The bouquet opens with complex aromas of iris, violet and ripe black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry), accompanied by notes of sweet spices, black pepper and melted noble wood. Aeration reveals nuances of leather, liquorice and smoke.
Palate: The attack is full, supple and elegant. The palate is structured, balanced by a fine, silky tannic structure. The wine displays great depth, with remarkable aromatic persistence on spicy, floral and lightly toasted notes. A powerful yet refined wine, ready to mature or cellar for a few more years.
Food and wine pairing
This wine is ideal with :
- Game birds (roast partridge, pigeon with spices)

- Rich stews such as jugged hare or coq au vin.
