The ocean breeze in a bottle: an authentic gin from the Atlantic coast.
This gin reflects the stunning coastal landscape of France, a fact that becomes immediately apparent upon tasting. It is rich in authentic botanicals from the shores of La Rochelle and owes its unparalleled flavor to Atlantic pine buds, pine resin, samphire, rosemary, dill, basil, angelica, fennel, and grapefruit, all sourced locally from the region. A cold and slow infusion over two days in wine alcohol is complemented by an unusual filtration through oyster shells. After filtration, it is redistilled in a copper pot still, reduced to 43%, and then bottled.
Producer: The Godet family traces its origins back to Bonaventure Godet, a merchant of Dutch descent who settled in La Rochelle in the 16th century. Thanks to the strategic location on the Atlantic coast, he began exporting wine and salt. To better preserve the wines, he had them distilled—giving birth to Cognac. This innovation quickly gained favor, even among royal courts.
Today, five centuries later, the Godet brothers—Jean-Édouard, Maxime, and Cyril—continue the family tradition in the 15th generation. While most modern Cognacs are primarily made from the juice of the Ugni Blanc grape, Godet takes a different approach, focusing on rare grape varieties like Folle Blanche, Montils, and Colombard to create unique expressions.
Tasting Notes Color: Straw, Aroma: Like an ocean breeze, fresh and invigorating, with notes of marine herbs accentuated by subtle grapefruit aromas, Palate: Dry and woody, thanks to the addition of Atlantic pine and rosemary. Samphire and sea fennel break through the citrus notes, finishing with a long and radiant aftertaste
