Château Pavie Macquin 2017, Saint-Émilion 1° Grand Cru Classé - Parker 97
(€153.34 L)
A simply stunning wine, featuring exuberant aromas of warm black cherries and blackberry pie, framed by wonderfully ripe, very fine-grained tannins.
Winemaker and Vineyard: The Pavie Macquin vineyard is characterized by its plateau location, next to the Mondot mound and on the edge of the Fongaban fault. Due to its dominant position, it ranges between an altitude of 100 meters on the mound's edge and 75 meters on the plateau's rim. Surrounded by three First Classified Great Growths, it is therefore situated in a particularly high-quality sector.
Tasting: Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Pavie Macquin comes charging out of the glass with exuberant scents of warm black cherries, blackberry pie and wild blueberry coulis plus hints of menthol, licorice, candied violets and charcuterie. Medium-bodied, the palate is an exercise in precision and poise, featuring a beautiful frame of wonderfully ripe, very fine-grained tannins and bold freshness, finishing very long and multilayered. Simply stunning! The blend here is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. It was aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, 70% new. robertparker.com, 16.03.2020
Service: Serve at room temperature (16-18°C) to accompany duck breast with olives and thyme.
