Lacoste Borie 2018
Origin and background
The 2018 vintage in Pauillac benefited from a hot, dry summer, with harvesting under ideal conditions allowing excellent phenolic ripeness. Lacoste Borie, the second wine of Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, reflects the classic identity of Pauillac while offering a more accessible and seductive style, made mainly from the estate's young vines.
Tasting
Colour: Deep ruby red with purple highlights.
Nose: Expressive and elegant. Notes of ripe black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry), red fruit (cherry), floral hints, spicy nuances (sweet pepper, liquorice) and discreet woody notes (cedar, vanilla).
Palate: Supple, greedy attack. Fine, well-integrated tannins. Balanced, fruity mid-palate with a silky texture and well-balanced acidity. Harmonious finish, slightly spicy and woody, marked by a lovely freshness.
Review
- Wine Advocate: 89/100

Suggested pairings
Perfect with grilled or roasted red meats, roast or braised poultry, and stewed dishes such as navarin lamb or beef carrots. It also goes very well with mature hard or slightly blue-veined cheeses, allowing the wine's finesse and elegance to shine through.
