Château Margaux 2016
Appellation: Margaux, Bordeaux, France
Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon majority, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc
Vintage: 2016
Origin and background
The 2016 vintage, which was characterised by a hot and dry summer followed by a cool autumn, allowed the grapes to ripen perfectly. Château Margaux, located on an exceptional gravelly soil, produces an emblematic wine with finesse, balance and power that remains true to its reputation for elegance and complexity.
Tasting
Colour: Deep red with violet reflections.
Nose: Very complex and refined, with aromas of ripe black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry), red fruit (raspberry, cherry), floral notes (violet), sweet spices (pepper, liquorice) and subtle woody notes (cedar, vanilla).
Palate: Silky and full-bodied attack. Fine, elegant and well-integrated tannins. Rich, balanced mid-palate with pure fruit and remarkable freshness. Long, harmonious finish with spicy and floral nuances.
Reviews:
- Wine Advocate: 99/100

Ideal with grilled or roasted red meat (fillet of beef, entrecôte), roast lamb, fine poultry (duck, guinea fowl) and refined dishes such as rabbit pepper or ox cheek daube. Also goes very well with mature hard cheeses (Comté, Parmesan) and parsley cheese.
