(€110.00 L)
Chalk dust, almond and a touch of peach emerging after some time in glass. The palate is fresh with good weight and good level of botrytis. Notes of honey and quince with good fresh acidity. Floral, peachy finish. A very attractive Sauternes.
Tasted after bottling at the UGC in Oct-05. Very little on the nose at first: chalk dust, almond and a touch of peach emerging after some time in glass. The palate is fresh with good weight and good level of botrytis. Notes of honey and quince with good fresh acidity. Floral, peachy finish. A very attractive Sauternes. www.erobertparker.com
Silky, greedy, sapid with airy sweetness. The palate is fresh with good balance and a good level of Botrytis. Hints of honey and quince, with light acidity bringing freshness. Floral and on the finish. Astonishing length. A sumptuous wine.
Bordeaux primeurs, Les Echos (June 4/5 2004)
This wine is directed with talent and without concession by Sauternes lover Xavier Planty. The wine appears sumptuous, with a marvelously fine body and richness of liquor.
Grands crus en primeur, Cuisine et Vins de France (2004)
Here's a natural vintage that has everything to seduce proprietor Xavier Planty, a great advocate of chaptalization. Luscious, silky, with exotic vanilla nuances, this premier cru classé is already a great seducer!
La vertical de Château Guiraud, La Revue du Vin de France (February 2005)
Opulent, with a superb, unctuous balance, a great liquor that knows how to remain balanced with a tonus due to the spices, a pure finish, stretched out over a dazzling fruitiness. This wine has not been corrected for acidity. A great Guiraud.
2003 (aged)*****
Le Point (May 13, 2004)
In addition to its traditional power, Guiraud offers remarkable elegance in 2003, albeit with a richness rarely achieved: 13.9° and 135 g/l residual sugar! 65% Semillon, 35% Sauvignon. Tasted twice, first blind with the syndicate, then in the evening with the company - the bottle having passed through without a hitch, which is a sign of its quality.
