La Chapelle d'Ausone 2019, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru - Parker 93
(€342.67 L)
An elegant and refined, medium to full-bodied wine with a deep core of fruit and impeccable balance. Alluring aromas of cherries and rose petals.
Winemaker and Vineyard: Château Ausone, a Premier Grand Cru Classé A in Saint-Emilion, has been historically linked to the Vauthier family for several generations. It is situated on the site of the ancient villa of the poet Ausone in Lucaniac (Saint-Emilion). The estate maintains old vines and produces exceptional wine each year. The vineyard covers 9 hectares and is shielded from winds, enjoying excellent exposure. The annual production ranges between 4,000 and 10,000 bottles.
Tasting: A blend of wine from young vines with a few barriques of declassified Ausone (though anything that doesn't make the grade is sold off in bulk), the 2019 Chapelle d'Ausone exhibits attractive aromas of cherries, sweet berry fruit, violets, spices, rose petals and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and seamless, it's elegant and refined, with a deep core of fruit and impeccable balance. (robertparker.com, 07.04.2022)
Service: Serve at room temperature (16-18°C) with minestrone.
