Château Poujeaux 2016
Appellation: Moulis-en-Médoc, Bordeaux, France
Classification: Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel
Ownership: Miailhe family
Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot
Vintage: 2016
Origin and background
The 2016 vintage, characterised by a hot, dry summer followed by a temperate autumn, enabled the grapes to ripen slowly and completely. Château Poujeaux, located on the gravelly terroir of Moulis, produces a balanced, powerful and elegant wine, true to the style of the estate.
Tasting
Colour: Deep red with purple highlights.
Nose: Complex and intense. Aromas of ripe black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry), spicy notes (pepper, liquorice), floral touches and woody nuances (cedar, vanilla).
Palate: Full, supple attack. Well-structured, silky, well-integrated tannins. Rich, balanced mid-palate with generous fruit and invigorating acidity. Long, harmonious finish with spicy, woody notes.
