Classification: Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel
Ownership: Merlaut family
Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc

Origin and background
The 2016 vintage, characterised by a hot, dry summer followed by a cool autumn, enabled the grapes to ripen to perfection. Château Poujeaux, situated on a rich gravelly terroir, offers a wine combining power, elegance and finesse, typical of this very successful vintage.
Tasting
Colour: Deep red with purplish highlights.
Nose: Intense and complex. Aromas of ripe black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry), red fruit (raspberry), spicy notes (pepper, liquorice) and woody nuances (cedar, vanilla).
Palate: Full, silky attack. Well-structured, elegant tannins. Dense and well-balanced mid-palate, with pure fruit and pleasant freshness. Long, harmonious finish with spicy, woody notes.
