Sarget de Gruaud Larose 2014, Saint-Julien
(€50.53 L)
Blackberry, black fruit, spicy palate, ripe fruit, round, soft, supple, plum and spice finish
Winemaker and Vineyard: Located in the heart of the Médoc, the terroir benefits from a microclimate particularly conducive to the expression of the vine. The nature of the soil limits the restitution of rainwater and the summer period, very hot and dry from July to September, is crucial for good veraison, good ripening and satisfactory transfer between the root system and the grape. The soil is humus, clay, sand and pebbles forgotten by the river. The subsoil is red, yellow or blue clay, then sand and more rolled pebbles, those from the Pyrenean diluvium. The gravel prevents the earth from being a compact, suffocating, blind mass. The entire ice age is embodied in these mineral landscapes.
Tasting: Beautiful bright color, with well-supported purple reflections. The nose is fresh, spicy, with notes of nutmeg. A subtle woodiness blends with the fruit. The mouth is tender with well-marked tannins, of good quality, suggesting a good aging potential. Property Website
