Château Lascombes 2011 - Margaux - 2nd Grand Cru Classé

Château Lascombes, 2nd Grand Cru Classé since 1855, is one of the most emblematic estates in the Margaux appellation. The 2011 vintage is a perfect illustration of the château's style: a wine that combines elegance, aromatic richness and structure, even in a vintage considered to be ‘classic’.

Blend

    - 55% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot

An atypical blend for Margaux, with Merlot predominating, giving the wine roundness, suppleness and fruit, balanced by the structure and tension of the Cabernet Sauvignon.

Tasting

    - Colour: Intense ruby with garnet highlights.

    - Nose: Notes of ripe black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry), sweet spices, vanilla, cocoa, cedar.

    - Palate: Supple attack, silky tannins, fine, harmonious structure. Nice freshness on the finish, typical of the vintage.

    - Finish: Persistent, on black fruits, spices and noble wood

Food & Wine Pairing

    - Roast fillet of beef, rack of lamb, poultry with morel mushrooms

    - Porcini risotto, lamb tajine, truffle dishes

    - Hard cheeses (comté, old mimolette)

Ageing potential

Already pleasant today after aeration, Château Lascombes 2011 can be kept until 2030. It will gain in complexity with a further 2-5 years in the cellar.
