Patrick Javillier, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2022
(€349.33 L)
One of the best Grand Cru of Côte de Beaune
Patrick Javillier's wines are fine, rich and well-balanced with a great freshness
Winemaker and winery: In 1945, after returning from the war, Raymond Javillier took over the parcels of land totalling 2 hectares, which had already belonged to the family for a long time. 1974 was a decisive year in the history of the estate: Patrick, Raymond's son, took over the management of the estate and expanded it until the early 1990s. Patrick's daughter, Marion, has been working at the winery since 2005; her sister's husband, Pierre Emmanuel, has also been working there since 2011.
Tasting: Due to early harvesting, this wine retains sufficient acidity to balance the fat and volume of the typical Corton-Charlemagne. It has a pronounced golden-yellow color. The wine is intense on the nose with aromas of hazelnut and fresh walnut. The strength of these aromas is impressive. On the palate, one can detect white notes of apple and apricot. The Corton-Charlemagne is mineral and shows a beautiful acidity. It always has a high natural alcohol content, making it a powerful, fairly concentrated wine with a very nice persistence on the palate
Food recommendation: Perfect with fish and shellfish as well as poultry with truffle, serve at 11/13°C
