Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2018
Origin and background
The 2018 vintage had favourable conditions for the development of botrytis cinerea, despite a climate marked by alternating humidity and heat. The gravelly, sandy-clay terroir of Bommes enables Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey to produce a Sauternes of great purity, combining richness, balance and freshness.
Tasting
Colour: Intense, brilliant golden yellow.
Nose: Very expressive and refined, revealing aromas of candied apricot, yellow peach, exotic fruit (pineapple), honey, white flowers and subtle notes of sweet spices and vanilla.
Palate: Velvety, dense attack. Creamy texture perfectly supported by lively acidity that balances out the sweetness. Rich, complex mid-palate, revealing candied fruit, honey and fine spices. The finish is long, fresh and elegant, with notes of candied citrus fruit and a hint of spice.

Suggested pairings
Ideal with foie gras (semi-cooked or pan-fried), poultry with creamy or sweet and sour sauces (poultry with morel mushrooms, duck with orange sauce), blue-veined cheeses (Roquefort, Bleu de Gex). It is also a perfect accompaniment to fruity desserts (tarte Tatin, roasted apricots, exotic fruit salad) or those made with almonds and puff pastry.
