Château Guiraud 2015 - Sauternes 1er Grand Cru Classé
Château Guiraud, recognised as one of the greatest names in the Sauternes appellation, has produced an exceptional vintage in 2015. This Grand Cru Classé combines tradition, viticultural excellence and environmental commitment, the estate being one of the first crus classés to be certified organic.
This wine is made from a blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes, hand-picked in several selections, only from grapes affected by noble rot. The wine is matured for a long period, mainly in new barrels, to develop richness, complexity and balance.
Tasting
To the eye, the wine is an intense golden colour with hints of amber. The nose is particularly expressive, combining aromas of candied citrus fruit, exotic fruit, honey, beeswax and white flowers. On the palate, the texture is both smooth and fresh. The aromatic richness unfolds around notes of mirabelle plum, roasted apricot, preserved lemon and sweet spices, underpinned by a fine acidity that perfectly balances the sweetness.
The finish is long, vibrant and elegant, with a light saline touch that prolongs the pleasure.
Food & wine pairing
This great sweet wine should be drunk chilled, between 10 and 12°C. It goes wonderfully with foie gras, blue-veined cheese, poultry in a creamy sauce or a yellow fruit dessert.
