Refined Sauternes with notes of candied fruit, citrus, and beeswax. Smooth, vibrant, and balanced palate with a long, subtly spiced finish.
Château Guiraud 2012 - Sauternes 1er Grand Cru Classé
Located in the heart of the Sauternes appellation, Château Guiraud is one of the oldest and most prestigious estates classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé in 1855.
Made from a blend of 65% Semillon and 35% Sauvignon Blanc, it is also the first Sauternes Grand Cru Classé to have obtained organic farming certification (2011), underlining the estate's commitment to practices that respect nature.
Tasting
- Colour: Deep, limpid gold with brilliant highlights.
- Nose: Complex, intense and fine. Notes of exotic fruit, verbena, beeswax, citrus zest and a hint of sweet spices.
- Palate: A supple attack, followed by a dense, slightly unctuous texture. The underlying liveliness brings freshness and tension. The finish is long, subtly iodised and spicy, with an impression of lightness despite its richness.
Food and wine pairing
Château Guiraud 2012 is as much a wine for gastronomy as for pleasure. It goes well with :
- Foie gras au naturel or brioche
- Duck fillet with peaches or orange sauce
- Mirabelle plum tart, pistachio shortbread
- Blue cheeses (Roquefort, Bleu d'Auvergne)
