General description
The 2014 Château Rauzan-Ségla is a red wine from the Margaux appellation, categorised as a 2ᵉ Grand Cru in the 1855 classification. The estate, which is run by the Wertheimer family (owners of Chanel), cultivates its vineyards with a particular focus on quality and expression of the terroir.
Composition
- Cabernet Sauvignon: 56 %, Merlot: 42 %, Cabernet Franc: 1 %, Petit Verdot: 1 %
The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted. The wine is aged for around 18 months in French oak barrels, 60% of which are new.
Nose and mouth
The nose is elegant and complex, offering aromas of ripe black fruits such as blackcurrant and blackberry, accompanied by floral notes of red roses and precious woods. In the mouth, the attack is full and generous, supported by fine tannins and a beautiful acidity. The structure is balanced and the finish is long and persistent, characterised by a beautiful freshness.
