General description
Calvados Le Père Jules 10 ans is a cider brandy from the Calvados Pays d'Auge controlled designation of origin. This Calvados is handcrafted by the Desfrièches family in Saint-Désir-de-Lisieux in the heart of the Pays d'Auge in Normandy and benefits from a family know-how that has been passed down since 1919. Distillation takes place in a pot still, a traditional method required by the AOC, which makes it possible to obtain richer and more complex eaux-de-vie.
Aromatic profile
Nose: The nose is intense and characterised by aromas of candied apples, dried fruit, vanilla, caramel and sweet spices. Woody and slightly smoky notes emerge with aeration, reflecting the long maturation in the cask.
Palate: The attack is round and silky. The fruit remains very present, with flavours of cooked apples, honey and plums. The structure is balanced and supported by a beautiful freshness and a well-integrated sweetness. The alcohol has melted and adds warmth without being overpowering.
Finish: Long, elegant and persistent. It reveals woody notes, a hint of light tobacco and a light, elegant bitterness on the finish.
Serving suggestions
This Calvados is ideally enjoyed at room temperature (between 18 and 20 °C) at the end of a meal. It can be served neat as a digestif or slightly chilled in a tulip-shaped glass.
