General description
Château Palmer Alter Ego 2014 is a red wine from the Margaux appellation, classified as Troisième Grand Cru in the 1855 classification. The estate, which is run by the Mähler-Besse family, has been cultivating its vineyards biodynamically since 2010 and was certified in 2014.
Composition
- 52% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Petit Verdot
The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted. The wine matures for around 16 months in French oak barriques, 50% of which are new.
Nose and mouth
The nose is elegant and complex, offering aromas of ripe black fruits such as cassis and blackberry, accompanied by notes of violet, cedar wood, liquorice and mocha. In the mouth, the attack is soft and velvety, with a dense texture and fine tannins. The structure is balanced and the finish is long and persistent, characterised by a beautiful freshness.

This wine goes perfectly with dishes such as game, grilled red meat or meat in sauce as well as mature cheese. It can also be served with more refined dishes such as Tournedos Rossini or game with porcini mushrooms.
