A deep ruby colour and aromas lightly highlighting vanilla. In the mouth the wine is all softness and generosity. This is a classic vintage, soft and supple, full of charm. The palate is predominated by fruit like strawberry and red currant, which evolve to subtle game flavours on the finish. This wine is characterized by an upfront purity and finesse.

The Wine Advocate 89-91/100

"Cantemerle’s ethereal elegance and racy, classy style are unmistakable in this understated yet pretty, dark ruby-coloured 2012. Offering lots of cherry, raspberry and black currant fruit, this is a wine of unmistakable finesse and delicacy. Enjoy it over the next 10-12 years."

Neal Martin (April 2013) 88-90/100

"The Cantemerle has a fine bouquet that demonstrates clarity and lift – graphite infused black fruit, expressive Cabernet fruit to the fore. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, edge tannins and a lovely citric seam that cuts through the mocha-tinged fruit. The oak feels a little heavy-handed at this stage, but it should integrate well and become a fine Cantemerle for the vintage."

Jane Anson 87/100

"Again, heading towards the al dente tannins that suggest firm veering towards underripe, but done a valiant toasting job to fill things out, I do like the percolating softly burnt coffee toast. Overall there is attractive freshness to the wine (or an under - ripe frame perhaps), would need to watch carefully to see if this softens. 87 / 16.25. Recommended (to be retasted in bottle). Drink 2018 - 2028."

Jeff Leve 88-90/100

"Offering sweet, soft and ripe dark berries, this wine is fresh and ample with black cherry notes in an elegant style. This remains one of the best Bordeaux value wines in the market today, especially since it’s a classified growth."
