Château Pichon Baron, one of Pauillac's most prestigious Deuxièmes Grands Crus Classés, has produced a racy, concentrated and superbly balanced wine in 2012. From an exceptional terroir with deep gravelly soil, the estate continues to strive for quality through precise vinification and controlled ageing.

Blend

80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot

Tasting notes

    - Colour: Dark, deep ruby with purple highlights.

    - Nose: Elegant, dominated by aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, graphite, light tobacco, cedar and sweet pepper.

    - Palate: Clean attack, dense, silky mid-palate, fine, well-integrated tannins. Long, fresh, mineral finish with excellent balance.

Food & wine

This wine goes perfectly with :

    - Grilled red meat or meat in sauce (beef, lamb)

    - Roast or stewed game

    - Truffled dishes

    - Mature cheeses such as Comté or aged Gouda
