Very fruity, fresh, citrus fruits and peach; perfect to fish in sauces.
Riesling is all about lively acidity. When it’s good, it also offers wonderful fruit notes, such as peach and citrus. This one from Domaine Fernand Engel isn’t just good – it’s absolutely brilliant. Very expressive, with lovely floral notes too. Really fresh! Wonderful!
Winemaker and winery: Philippe-Louis Bott began making wine in 1835. His wines quickly gained renown – including in the USA (Gold in Chicago in 1893). The traditional estate, run by Paul and Gladys, comprises 26 hectares of vineyards.

Pale to medium lemon-gold colored, opening out to notes of honeydew melon, nectarines and baked apples with touches of lightly browned toast, allspice and powdered ginger.
Château d’Yquem 1997, Sauternes Premier Cru Classé, shows deep golden color with rich aromas of honey, apricot, and spices. Lush palate balanced by bright acidity.
Château Filhot 2010, Sauternes: rich and well-balanced, with aromas of honey, candied fruit and white flowers, and a lovely fresh finish.
