Château Olivier 2012 - Pessac-Léognan Cru Classé

Origin & Production

Château Olivier is a historic estate located in Léognan, Gironde, classified as a Cru Classé de Graves since 1953. The 2012 vintage is made from a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, grown on a terroir of deep gravel, clay-limestone and sand. The vines, which are on average 25 years old, benefit from integrated viticulture methods. The wine is matured in oak barrels for 18 months, including 12 months in barriques.

Tasting profile

    - Colour : Deep red with purplish tints.

    - Nose : Complex aromas of ripe black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry), black cherry, raspberry, accompanied by spicy notes, liquorice and a touch of noble wood.

    - Palate: Supple and round on the attack, developing into a firm but elegant tannic structure. The balance between acidity and fruit is remarkable, offering a silky texture and fine length.

    - Finish: Persistent, with hints of dark chocolate and toasted wood.

    - Wine Enthusiast: 94/100 - Full, juicy and fresh, with balanced acidity and ripe fruit.

    - Vertdevin: 92-93/100 - Score awarded at a 2016 tasting, highlighting the aromatic complexity and fine tannins.
