Le Carillon d'Angélus 2019, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru - Parker 91-93
(€173.33 L)
An elegant and refreshing wine with floral notes and a rich fruity core, supported by a firm, fine-grained structure and an energetic, perfumed finish.
Winemaker and Vineyard: Carillon d'Angelus was born with the 1987 vintage. Over the years, it has acquired its own identity. A reflection of the high standards of the estate's team, it is made from a variable percentage of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon selected from different terroirs in Saint Emilion. The vinification and aging processes are precisely adapted to its style. It is appreciated for the purity of its fruit aromas, its velvety tannins, and its elegant finish.
Tasting: Composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Le Carillon d'Angélus is aging in French oak barrels, 60% new. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it springs from the glass with floral notes of lavender and red roses with a baking spice undercurrent and a core of redcurrant jelly, blackberry pie, black raspberries and cracked black pepper. Medium-bodied, the palate is wonderfully elegant and refreshing with loads of mineral-laced black fruit layers and a firm, fine-grained frame, finishing with great energy and bags of perfume.
