Château Olivier - 2019

Origin: Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux, France

Type: Red wine

Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot

Classification: Cru Classé de Graves

Surface area: Approximately 50 hectares (red and white)

Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep garnet red, brilliant.

Nose: Complex and refined, revealing notes of ripe blackcurrant, black cherry, light tobacco, cedar and graphite, complemented by hints of smoke and spice (pepper, vanilla).

Palate: A supple, elegant attack, with fine, silky tannins and a fine structure supported by well-integrated acidity. Generous on the palate, with aromas of ripe black fruit, undergrowth and sweet spices, with a long, harmonious finish that confirms the classic Graves balance.

Critic

Scores :

- James Suckling: 93/100

- Wine Advocate (Robert Parker): 91/100

- Decanter: 92/100

Suggested pairings

This vintage is an ideal accompaniment to roast rack of lamb with Provençal herbs, roast beef in a crust, or shoulder of lamb confit. It also goes very well with duck breast with cherries or guinea fowl supreme with morel mushrooms. On a cheese platter, opt for mature tommes or a Salers. It also goes well with simmered dishes such as navarin lamb or wild boar stew.
