Corbières-Boutenac “Alexandre” is a powerful and expressive red blend from the prestigious Corbières-Boutenac appellation. The wine is concentrated and structured, showing notable depth and a clear Southern French identity. It combines ripeness and spice with a firm yet elegant structure and is built for good ageing potential.
Winemaker and Estate: Overlooking the village of Boutenac, the 75 hectares of vineyards of Domaine Fontsainte (meaning “holy spring”) extend across the hills. The Laboucarié family has been closely linked to winemaking since the 17th century, although the estate was officially founded in 1971. Today, Bruno Laboucarié manages the domaine.
Tasting Notes: Deep dark ruby in color. The nose reveals intense aromas of black fruits such as blackberry and cassis, accompanied by garrigue herbs, spices, and subtle toasted notes. On the palate, the wine is powerful and concentrated, with dense fruit, present yet ripe tannins, and a fresh backbone. It is both structured and elegant, with a long, spicy-fruity finish and excellent depth.
Food Pairing: Excellent with robust meat dishes such as leg of lamb, beef stews, or game. Also ideal with grilled meats, hearty stews, and Mediterranean cuisine featuring Provençal herbs. A very good match for aged hard cheeses as well.
