Château Moulin Saint-Georges 2020, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru - Parker 91
(€66.00 L)
A lively wine with fruit and spice aromas, marked by oak notes. Promises to evolve with age
Winemaker and Vineyard: The vineyard of Château Moulin-Saint-Georges spans 8 hectares where Merlot reigns supreme, with a few plots of Cabernet Franc. On this clay-limestone signature, the planting density can vary from 5,500 to 12,600 feet per hectare. The wine that emerges from this exceptional terroir is the fruit of significant soil and vine work. After manual harvesting and parcel sorting, the juices undergo traditional fermentation in stainless steel tanks followed by aging 100% in new barrels.
Tasting: The 2020 Moulin St Georges is more marked by its élevage than its brilliant 2019 predecessor (a wine I purchased for my own cellar). Offering up aromas of plums, cherries and spices mingled with prominent notes of coconut and vanilla pod, it's medium to full-bodied, bright and racy, reflecting its west-facing limestone terroir, concluding with a saline, somewhat oak-inflected finish that is likely to become better integrated with a bit of bottle age.roberparker.com (06.05.2023)
Service: Serve at room temperature (16-18°C) to accompany a guinea fowl with chestnuts.
