Château Poujeaux 2011 - Moulis-en-Médoc - Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel

Château Poujeaux, a benchmark in the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation, has been classified Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel since 2020. This historic estate produces elegant, well-structured, accessible wines that faithfully express the character of their terroir. The 2011 vintage, the result of a cool, technical year, offers a balanced, precise wine that is already very pleasant to drink.

Blend

    - 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot

A typical Médoc blend, where the Merlot plays a softening role while leaving room for the structure of the Cabernet Sauvignon and the complexity of the Petit Verdot.

Tasting

    - Colour : Dark ruby with garnet highlights.

    - Nose: Aromas of ripe black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry), spices, light tobacco, hints of toasted wood.

    - Palate: Round on the palate, with mellow tannins and a velvety texture. Well-balanced, slightly spicy and fresh finish

Food & wine pairing

    - Roast or grilled red meat

    - Simmered dishes (beef bourguignon, veal stew)

    - Mushroom risotto, gratins

    - Matured cheeses

Cellaring potential

Château Poujeaux 2011 can be enjoyed now, after a little aeration, but can also be aged until 2028-2030, gaining in complexity.

    - Robert Parker - Wine Advocate : 89/100
