A wine from the legendary Clos de Vougeot, showcasing impressive depth and elegance, with the potential to age for decades while gaining in complexity. On approximately 0.21 hectares, the Pinot Noir vines grow on a subsoil of solid limestone and a surface layer of clay- and limestone-rich scree.

Producer: The Tortochot estate has been in the hands of the Tortochot family for four generations. It was Paul Tortochot who, in the 19th century, expanded the estate from its modest beginnings in Gevrey-Chambertin. To this day, it remains family-owned, now led by Chantal, who carries on the passion for wine and nature passed down from her parents and grandparents, along with the international experience she gained while working for an American oil company.

Terroir: Gevrey-Chambertin boasts a rare and unique terroir, shaped by an alluvial cone originating from a valley directly west of the village, known as La Combe de Lavaux. This glacier melted millions of years ago, spreading rich layers of topsoil and subsoil across what is now the town and the plains beyond. It is no surprise that 9 of Burgundy’s 33 Grand Crus come from this village, including the famous Chambertin, alongside 26 Premier Crus.

Tasting Notes: A deep purplish-hued wine with aromas of undergrowth and roasted coffee. It is exceptionally full-bodied and opulent, with a refined texture and remarkable length that captivates the palate. In its youth, it appears rather restrained, with firm tannins that require at least 12 years of aging to fully develop. Over time, it reveals aromas of very ripe black fruits, complemented by spicy notes.

Aging Potential: Extremely long aging capacity.
