Château Kirwan 2016

Appellation: Margaux, Bordeaux, France

Classification: Third Grand Cru Classé 1855

Ownership: Merlaut family

Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot

Vintage: 2016

Origin and background

The 2016 vintage, renowned for its balance and finesse, benefited from a hot, dry summer followed by a temperate autumn, allowing the grapes to ripen to perfection. Château Kirwan, on a gravelly Margaux terroir, delivers a wine that combines elegance, freshness and complexity, true to the refined style of the estate.

Tasting

Colour: Deep red with purplish tints.

Nose: Complex and elegant, with aromas of ripe red and black fruit (cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry), accompanied by floral notes of violet, sweet spices and subtle, well-integrated woody nuances.

Palate: Supple, full attack. Fine, silky, well-structured tannins. Well-balanced mid-palate, combining fruity intensity and freshness. Long, harmonious, lingering finish with spicy and floral notes.
