Château Malartic-Lagravière - 2019

Origin : Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux, France

Type : Red wine

Grape varieties : Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot

Classification : Cru Classé de Graves

Surface area : Approximately 46 hectares

Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep red with purple highlights.

Nose: A complex, expressive nose, combining aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant and black raspberry, with floral touches (violet), graphite, liquorice and sweet spices. Controlled ageing adds subtle notes of roasting and dark chocolate.

Palate: Full attack, silky texture and finely coated tannins. The wine develops with intensity but elegance, with flavours of ripe black fruit, sweet pepper, precious woods and a characteristic mineral touch. The finish is long, fresh and precise, with a fine harmony of structure and finesse.

Scores :

- James Suckling: 95/100

- Wine Advocate (Robert Parker): 93/100

- Vinous (Neal Martin): 92-94/100

Suggested pairings

This wine goes perfectly with tournedos Rossini, roast pigeon with black cherries, or seven o'clock shoulder of lamb. It also enhances characterful dishes such as beef Wellington, wild boar fillet with Grand Veneur sauce or duck stew with cranberries. On a cheese platter, it will sublimate a Salers, an old Gouda or an aged farmhouse Saint-Nectaire.
