Château Pontet-Canet 2015 - Pauillac, Bordeaux

Overall profile:

Château Pontet-Canet 2015 is the dazzling expression of an exceptional terroir and a viticulture in full transition to biodynamics. This remarkable vintage combines power, finesse and freshness, embodying the estate's unique signature, which is both modern and respectful of natural balance.

Tasting:

Colour: Deep purple with brilliant highlights

Nose: Intense and complex, with aromas of ripe black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry), notes of graphite, tobacco, cedar and a subtle floral touch

Palate: Powerful, generous attack, dense but elegant tannins, fine structure with remarkable freshness. Long, lingering finish with spicy, mineral notes.

Notes & critics :

James Suckling: 97/100

Wine Advocate (Neal Martin): 95-97/100

Vinous (Antonio Galloni): 96/100

Decanter: 95/100

Food & wine pairings:

Château Pontet-Canet 2015 reveals all its power and finesse when paired with characterful dishes. It sublimates grilled or roasted red meats, in particular a rack of lamb with herbs or a fillet of beef en croûte. It is also excellent with game in sauce, wild mushrooms and truffle-based dishes. On the cheese side, it goes perfectly with blue-veined or mature cheeses. Its aromatic complexity and structure make it an elegant accompaniment to refined gourmet meals.
