Winemaker and Vineyard: The vineyard of Château La Croix de Gay spans over four hectares. The 10 plots are spread over 3 sectors and 2 particular Pomerol terroirs, Günz gravels from the high terrace of high to fine granulometry and Mindelian gravels are thus present in parity. These terroirs, geologically different, with distinct edaphological characteristics, provide the Merlot grape varieties (95% of the planting) and Cabernet Franc (5% of the planting) with complementary and synergistic characters contributing to the complexity of the final blend of the wine from Château La Croix de Gay.

Tasting: Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 La Croix de Gay is still wearing a bit of its oak, opening with cedar and clove notes before giving way to a core of boysenberries, stewed black cherries and baked plums with touches of bouquet garni and pencil lead. The medium to full-bodied palate offers soft acidity and a light chewiness to match the understated black fruit preserves flavors, finishing earthy. robertparker.com (03.31.2021)

Service: Serve at room temperature (16-18°C) to accompany stuffed cepes flambéed in armagnac.
